Yerlan AYTAKHANOV: “ EVEN SHYMKENT AND TURKESTAN WERE SEPARATED, THEY HAVE MUCH IN COMMON”
It is possible to reanimate any economy that has fallen into decay. And if spirituality is shaken, the consequences of this can be felt for centuries. Shymkent mayor Yerlan Aytakhanov spoke about this at a meeting with representatives of the intelligentsia of the southern region.
The head of the city emphasized that getting a new status of Shymkent and the recognition of Turkestan as the regional center should not negatively affect the spiritual connection of the population of the two cities.
“We must understand that giving Shymkent the status of a city of republican significance and the establishment of a new Turkestan was not done so that there were separations between them, but so that the southern region would actively develop. Spiritual communication is a very delicate matter. Even the smallest mistake is not forgiven. Now we will carry out activities aimed at developing our country together with the Turkestan people, ”-said Yerlan Aytakhanov during the meeting.
The mayor also spoke about the revival of agricultural product fairs, which were not held for some time. “After the separation of the region and the city, the holding of traditional agricultural fairs was suspended. It was not just an opportunity to purchase products at a price lower than the market - the event gave people a good mood. Shymkent people miss Turkestan producers” - the head of the city said.
It should be noted that next year marks the 1150th anniversary of the birth of Abu Nasyr al-Farabi. Yerlan Aytakhanov suggested marking a significant date at a high level in Shymkent. “Al-Farabi was an outstanding personality, was close to the whole Kazakh people, to all mankind. This event would be common for residents of Shymkent and Turkestan, ”- said Yerlan Kuanyshevich.
Another significant event - next year, Shymkent will become the cultural capital of the CIS. If Turkestan people participate in its organization, it will be held at a higher level.
During the meeting, the issue of preserving spiritual values and introducing the younger generation to them was also discussed. An exchange of views took place on the role of intellectuals in educating young people, the participants shared their suggestions and expressed hope that such meetings would be held more often.
